2 Timothy 3:16 & 17

I started attending a new class at church using the video/ workbook Read the Bible for Life. I decided on this class out of all the options because I prayed for God to tell me which class to take, and this was the one I felt led to. I feel like I need to increase my biblical knowledge in order to serve and also in order to mature as a Christian. I read the Bible a lot, and I understand most of what I read, but there are gaps. I'm uncertain about the order of certain events, the history of certain groups of people, the way people and events are connected, and which books of the Bible are meant to give advice to me and which ones are meant to give advice only to the specific group of people addressed by the author or speaker. I'm hoping this class will fill in some of the gaps. In doing my homework for the class one day this week, I came across a Bible verse that I wanted to memorize. (It seems to me that mature Christians are full of verses they have tucked away in their heads for just the right moment in a conversation. And I think in order to "meditate" on God's Word "day and night" as Psalm 1:2, Joshua 1:8 suggest we should, I need to have some significant verses memorized) So the verses I felt led to memorize this week are:

2 Timothy 3:16, 17
All Scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

These 2 verses seem so relevant to me in my life right now. These verses make it very clear how we are to use the Bible. How wonderful that reading the Bible can make us complete and equip us for every good work! And that we can use the Bible to instruct and correct. It's good to know that I have such a tool in raising my children. This week I am praying that God will make me complete and equip me for good works through His Word.

Another book I am reading right now is Victory Over the Darkness by Neil T Anderson. I am learning a lot from this book and recommend it. I'll probably write a review once I finish it.
