My Father's World Lessons 2 and 3

Week 3, of My Father's World- Kindergarten, we worked on the letter/ sound "L" and learned about leaves. We read that leaves provide food to the plants and trees that they are on. We talked about living and growing in Jesus and how leaves will wither and die if they are pulled from their tree or plant and how people will wither as well if they walk away from God. We read "A Tree is Nice" and Ella made her own book about trees and leaves. Ella really likes trees and leaves so this was fun for her.

Ella's tree book was made up of her drawings of trees with sentences I wrote down for her about her favorite things about trees as well as a few art projects we did with a dried leaf from our yard.

In addition to learning about leaves, we continued to review letters and sounds, add a straw daily for counting, and watch our raisins. They're finally raisins!!

This is our "picture box". Inside each pocket are pictures that begin with a specific letter that Ella has colored and cut out, and I have glued to cardstock and laminated. We use these along with the textured foam letters to review letter sounds.
This is our number bucket. Each week, we add a card with a number, and on the days we do our drawing page, Ella draws a number from the bucket and draws that many objects on her page.
Ella is excited that her grapes are now raisins!

Lesson 2 of My Father's World- Kindergarten is about the moon. We learned lots of neat information about the moon, its phases and its revolution around Earth. We talked about how the moon doesn't have light of its own but reflects light from the sun and about how we as Christians don't have light of our own, but we reflect the light of Jesus. We talked about how we can show others Jesus's light. We worked on the letter/ sound "M" and read "Goodnight Moon" and "Happy Birthday Moon" , and Ella made her own "Goodnight Moon" book.

We continued to watch our grapes change.

We also kept up with the weather and date each day on our calendar and added straws daily. At ten, we bundled the straws up and wrapped a ponytail holder around them and put them in a plastic container. We continue to put a straw in our cup each day and are adding the number in our cup to ten to write on our 100 chart. We had some worksheets on the number 2, the letter M, and review. Ella practiced writing, reviewed letters and sounds, and we went to the library. We played outside, went to the park, and played with friends. Overall, it was a productive and fun week.
